Description

The 2012-S 1oz Silver American Eagle Reverse Proof Coin was struck by the United States Mint at San Francisco and carries the S mint mark. It was issued only in the American Eagle San Francisco two-coin Silver Proof Set and has a reported final mintage of 224,981. Its reverse-proof treatment uses frosted fields with polished, mirror-like raised elements. The coin contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The obverse features walking liberty with the rising sun, adapted from adolph a. weinman, and the reverse depicts heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch and arrows beneath thirteen stars. The set celebrated the San Francisco Mint and paired this reverse proof with a conventional 2012-S proof.
