Description

The 2005 1/4oz Gold Britannia Proof Coin is a £25 legal-tender issue struck by The Royal Mint. It contains one-quarter troy ounce of fine gold and uses 22-carat gold alloy. Its stored gross weight reflects the heavier alloyed coin while the fine-weight field records its exact gold content. It is a collector proof struck using specially prepared dies and polished blanks. The obverse carries queen elizabeth ii, fourth definitive portrait by ian rank-broadley; the reverse is seated britannia with shield and olive branch.
