Description

The 1999 1oz Gold American Eagle Bullion Coin is struck by the United States Mint in 22-carat gold and contains one troy ounce of fine gold. It is part of the classic Type 1 period of the American Gold Eagle bullion series, one of the most widely recognised modern gold coin programmes. The obverse features Augustus Saint-Gaudens' Liberty design, adapted from the historic Double Eagle coinage, while the reverse carries Miley Busiek's family-of-eagles reverse. This combination of American numismatic heritage and investment-grade bullion specification gives the coin strong international recognition. The 1999 issue is associated with increased late-1990s demand for physical gold bullion and is often viewed as one of the more interesting pre-2000 dates in the run.
