Description

The 1987 Silver Libertad 1oz Proof Coin is an early collector issue struck by Casa de Moneda de México from one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. It continues the original Libertad design, pairing Mexico's national coat of arms with the classic depiction of Winged Victory and the two volcanoes. Collectors also study minor die and cactus-detail differences found among early Libertad obverses. The recorded proof mintage was 12,000 coins, substantially lower than the preceding 1986 issue and making the 1987 date one of the scarcer proof releases of the decade.
