Description

The 2017 1kg Silver Aztec Calendar Coin is a Mexican 100-peso legal-tender collector issue struck by Casa de Moneda de México for Banco de México. It contains one kilogram of .999 fine silver, measures 110mm in diameter and reproduces the Aztec Calendar Stone, or Stone of the Sun, in intricate relief. The obverse features Mexico's National Shield surrounded by historic versions of the national coat of arms. The reverse carries the Aztec Calendar design together with the Mo mint mark, 100-peso face value, year and the inscription identifying one kilogram of .999 pure silver. Issued for the tenth anniversary of the programme, the 2017 coin uses an official antique finish that clearly distinguishes it from the standard proof-like dates. The recorded worldwide mintage is 1,000 coins, giving this substantial silver issue strong scarcity and collector appeal.
