The 1820 George III gold Two Pounds is the first modern Double Sovereign denomination piece. It was not issued for normal circulation and is catalogued as a pattern or presentation striking. Only 60 specimens were struck. This landmark issue uses Benedetto Pistrucci designs and belongs in the historic and special-issue catalogue rather than the circulation or modern bullion series.
