Description

The 2020 Gold Sovereign - George III Cypher Proof was struck by The Royal Mint in 22-carat gold to Proof standard. The obverse features queen elizabeth ii fifth definitive portrait by jody clark, while the reverse carries st George and the Dragon by Benedetto Pistrucci with George III royal cypher mint mark. The special cypher marks 200 years since the death of King George III. The full Sovereign follows the traditional specification of approximately 7.98 grams, 22.05 millimetres in diameter and around 0.2352 troy ounces of fine gold. Specially prepared dies and planchets create sharply defined relief and reflective fields. The coin was supplied in official Royal Mint presentation packaging and may also have been included in multi-coin Sovereign proof sets.
