The 2002 Gold Tenth Krugerrand is a South African bullion coin struck in the traditional 22-carat gold-copper alloy and containing one tenth troy ounce of fine gold. It forms part of the Gold Krugerrand family, one of the most influential bullion coin programmes in the world.
The obverse carries Otto Schultz's portrait of Paul Kruger, while the reverse shows Coert Steynberg's springbok antelope, the design pairing that has defined the Krugerrand since 1967. The copper alloy gives the coin its distinctive warm colour and provides added durability for handling and long-term storage.
The 2002 issue continues the fractional Krugerrand programme into the early modern bullion era, retaining the classic Paul Kruger and springbok design in a smaller gold format.
